NJLN President, March 2026 – 2028

Dear Members and Colleagues,

Stepping into the role of President of the New Jersey League for Nursing is both an honor and a privilege. As I begin this new chapter, I want to recognize the remarkable leaders who have shaped the NJLN into the strong, vibrant organization it is today.

Dr. Donna Penn has led the League with vision, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to excellence. Her presidency elevated the organization in meaningful ways, and her leadership will continue to guide us as she transitions into the role of Immediate Past-President. I also extend our deep appreciation to Mary Koch, whose six years of service, from President-Elect to President to Past-President, have left a lasting impact on the NJLN, especially in the area of bridging the gap between academics and practice.

In addition, I also want to acknowledge Past Presidents Donna Murray and John Lanier, whose leadership and mentorship have strengthened the League’s foundation. It was John who first encouraged me to run for the Board of Directors, a moment that ultimately led me to this role today. His encouragement truly has shaped me both personally and professionally.

My own journey with the NJLN began years ago as a faculty member attending our annual conventions. I always found them welcoming, inspiring, and aligned with what I value most: excellence in nursing education. My involvement deepened when I became the liaison to the New Jersey Nursing Students organization, supporting emerging leaders and witnessing firsthand their passion for the profession. These experiences reinforced why the NJLN matters so deeply to me.

As I look ahead, our focus remains clear. We will continue to grow our membership and strengthen the ways we connect with and support New Jersey’s nursing community. Expanding mentoring opportunities for new nurses and those seeking to advance in their careers will be a priority. We will build programming that reflects the needs and voices of our members, ensuring that our work remains relevant, responsive, and impactful. And, as always, we will remain committed to providing meaningful scholarship awards that support the next generation of nurses.

I am honored to serve as your President and to work alongside each of you as members and colleagues, as we continue advancing nursing education across our state. Together, we will build on the strong foundation laid by those before me and continue shaping a future where nurses are supported, empowered, and celebrated.

Thank you for allowing me carry the NJLN forward.
